Whitney J. Lane is a New Jersey native. Armed with a smile at all times, and a knack for making friends. She lives by the golden rule- Respect. For herself, and others. The published writer and filmmaker is empowered to pursue her dreams by the support of her high school sweetheart, and three teenage daughters. Whitney is a dreamy kind of soul that goes with the flow of the Universe. Often daydreaming of sand, sun, and blue water.
Whitney is one of those rare believers in the power of using your voice to change the world. Writing is her passion. At age seven, she began to translate the world in her head on paper. In fifth grade, Whitney was introduced to the poetry of Phillis Wheately. The image of an enslaved poet who became the first published black female author resonated in her soul and has never left.
Nine to Five life for Whitney was a blur of routine and boredom just to make ends meet. Unfulfilling jobs with no growth potential began to stifle her artistic spirit and mental health. Whitney knew there had to be a better way to exist. One where passion would be her paycheck. The journey began in New York City when she was accepted into the Digital Film Academy to study Filmmaking.
Whitney then made her way to Atlanta, the oasis of Black Excellence. Thirsting for knowledge and better opportunities she pursued specialized training as a production assistant to become an asset to the Assistant Director’s Team. She found her soul tribe at First Team Productions and continues to walk in her purpose.
